From my personal experience, street mechs do have the edge unless you know which experienced mechs to visit at the service center. You don't necessarily get what you pay for at the "specialists" clinic.

The current series of engines have been around for awhile now (M271 etc) and the aftermarket diagnostics computers used for generating error codes are pretty much up to scratch. It still takes a good mechanic to smell/spot problem areas even though computer diagnosis is the main method nowadays.

====quite convincing..but how we know if ones is considered good ? as u noe, the merces isnt a toyota. There are many research and test before these mercies were built. i tink normal oil and filther servicing can be done on any street, but repair work its better head to agent, thus paying higher but getting more assurance and better quality of works?,,,anyone here had bad ASSperience with the agent workshop?

You'll have to ask around as each of us has our own opinion on who's good in repairing mercs. :) There are a good proportion of decent ex c&c mechanics that have opened up their own establishments and are competent enough to handle most models.

Sure MBs are well engineered but visits to agent wkshop is not entirely necessary to keep it in tip top condition. It's a complex motorcar with plenty of spaghetti wiring, computers and sensors but the mechanicals are pretty straightforward.

I don't buy the whole 'repair work is better to head to agent' theory. It makes sense to do it within the lifespan of the warranty of the car but once this is over, you're better off getting it done outside as the savings will be considerable enough to afford a set of new rims and other accessories in the short-medium term.

A good proportion of us have been c&c clients for awhile now and as with every other product, there will be the good and the bad so the informed decision is ultimately yours to make.

==thks for ur post. am partially agreed with ur texts above. but its puzzled me as u mentioned ' decent ex c&c mechanics that have opened up their own establishments ...' , how are we so sure that they are well informed or Trained for the newer models as those ex C&C mech wont be or Never will be invited to the germany for trainning. So the question here is, cost saving vs job quality, which is more important?

Like many of us here reckon, the experience at agent is both good and bad. Good luck!
