Iroad Q9 cameras setup

Recommended Posts

Hi

I planned to install my old iroad Q9 front and rear cameras on my W205 as the current JS400 cameras are blurred and no parking mode.

I was quoted additional charges as needed to lay a new wire to connect to battery in order to have parking mode. Is it true? The supplied power cable that connects to the fuse box is not able to allow parking mode? In other words, when I turned off the engine, the cameras will be shut off too.

Any owners who are using Q9 can share? And any good recommended technician that can install Q9 correctly? Thanks

imho any direct connection from your dash cams to your battery in parking mode will drain your battery.

Even if you do not completely drained your battery, your car battery goes through discharging and when you drive your car, it charges the battery.

This way your battery will be going through lots of discharging & charging cycle and that will shorten your battery life.

I can bet that if you leave your car parked for a period of time (days), you will have a flat battery

For your iRoad dash cams to have parking mode, iRoad have a power pack ("not cheap")

that will power your dash cam while in parking mode. The Power pack will be charged only when you start your car.

The function of the car battery is for starting your car

Once your car get started, the alternator & to provide the energy to power your aircon, lights and your accessories

Thanks for your advice. I'll consider getting a power bank in future.

Do not hook up your dash cam directly to your battery till you get a power pack

Noted with thanks. In fact the technician connected the power cable to the fuse box. And I can use parking mode when the car is parked and engine is turned off. I am only surprised that some charged me more so as to hard wire to the battery. Sometimes we need to have some basic knowledge and not to be confused by others
