Coolant or water?

For W124, should use coolant or water?

Some say coolant is no good for our radiators, since they are old and coolant has properties that are likely to "thin-off" the metal.

While we know that water will cause rust inside.

So how? What's the best advise?? :la:

If there is a real needs to use straight water,.....use distill water.... you can buy them from Giant .... Watson...etc

Note : Distill water !! not minerial water !!

Some schools teach a 50:50 mix. Using distilled water is absolutely vital. You don't get calcium deposits over the long term which is actually the sludge you find at the bottom of your radiator if you ever drain it in future.

Coolant (usually ethylene glycol) has a higher boiling point than water so when it is mixed with water, you tend to marry the best of both worlds.

The distilled water aids in a more efficient heat transfer vs the not so heat absorbing properties of pure coolant. Coolant also prevents corrosion.

Yeap !!! Thanks the trick i learn !! which cost me some S$2000 for top-overhaul !!

*Toyota coolent is OK (i used them before), but ensure a total 100% drainage of other coolent + full flush......mixture ..... complication at later stage..
