SLk200 Fuel Comsumption

Hi Kepiting1sg,

Is your engine the same as the FL or Pre-FL SLK200? Mine is Pre-FL, with no passenger, aircon on and average speed of 70+ for 23km, my consumption was 6.7L/100km. So surprisingly, your E200K, even though much heavier than SLK200, is drinking lesser fuel :iconsalut:

Just for your info, with aircon Off and for the same 23km, my consumption was 5.8L/100km... big difference right :D

Mine is the FL W211 with 183 bhp vs the pre FL W211 of 163 bhp.

IMHO,

I guess the extra horses on the FL probably helps to pull the 1.58 tonne better then the underpowered pre FL model.

Just like the new W212 E250 turbo with the 1.8L engine churning out >200 bhp and better FC than the current W211.

So MB's claim that the new FL 1.8L engine has lower consumption than the older 1.8L engine is very true and we had proven it with our comparison. That's around 10% lower in consumption, yet more horses :punk1:

Hi everyone,

I've been driving a FL SLK200 for a bit over a month now, and am getting an average of 12-13l/100km. My daily commute is of full of start-stop driving and my engine hasn't been fully run-in (largely because my office is only 6km from home), hopefully my FC will get better once I've done over 1500-2000km?

Btw, where can I get a C230 SC and what kind of performance enhancements can I expect from such a mod?

Thks guys!

Hi Sociex,

You can get the C230SC from MBM at Sin Ming Autocare or alternatively you may modified your stock SC pulley to a smaller pulley so that it spins more to get more pressure...............

Upgrade to C230SC won't really make your car fly but (it does help abit abit)........

The best is to install the Kleemann Boost Kit that consist of a 1x K&N air-filter, 1x 5bar fuel regulator (our stock is 3bar), 1x Bigger (light weight) pulley as compared to our stock pulley (heavy like don't know what) and the most important: K-Box (it is a piggy bag system).

Better plugs also helps......plus plugs booster...........

if budget allows you can also upgrade to Kleemann header, down-pipe followed by a good exhaust system..........

But your stock 184hp and 250nm should be good........no worries.............

cheers........

Sweet! Yeah I was just messing with the idea, will probably drive the car around for a couple more months (or until the 184hp loses its kick) before seriously considering any performance mods.

Are ECU remaps any good for the FL model? A couple of workshops can do Optican ECU reflash with promises of 30-40hp and 50-60Nm gains as well as marginally reduced FC, too good to be true?

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, what are headers for?

Hi sociex,

ECU re-flash alone can't get 30 to 40hp and 50 to 60nm..............(maybe with a bigger pulley and better air-flow system)..........

ECU re-flash on stock car can get 8 to 18hp (happy already)................

headers are for better air-flow..............(probably you wanna check Kleemann website to know more!!!)

Power is never enough............(Handling of the car is equally important)..........

cheers
