Water in the footwell area W124 - Solved

Hi All,

Have figured out the source of water in the car.

After stripping out the front carpets and air-con ducts leading to the rear, I discovered that 2 foam tubes leading from the firewall to the bottom of the car had become torn and corroded over the years.

I ripped them out and replaced them with rubber hoses instead and stipped all the carpets in the car, conditioned them and sunned them over the weekend. The car's fine now, no more water puddles.

:)

I think i have a similar prob at the left fron passenger footwell. A few drops of water tend to collect there on a rainy day when the ac is on. at first thought it might be rain water. but after checking, realise that the water is ice cold. thought it might be condensation thats leaking back into the car from the ac. sounds a bit similar to your prob. care to elaborate on where u got it done?

I tend to rule out an external leak because the car is dry whenever i go for a car wash n when the engine is off in the rain. it can be sitting in the car park for hours in the rain yet the cabin is completely dry.

i dont hv a water puddle issue

but i suspect something is not right and water is the root cause.

Reason i say this is bcos my remote control alarm goes haywire whenever it rains heavily

For both Sat and Sun (after the early morning rain) ... whenever i unlock the door... the door will auto lock back after 1min.

Regardless whether i did press the button accidentally or not

Else.... the alarm will go Bee Borrr Beee Boorrr

By afternoon... after the sun comes up.... everything will be fine.

Nearly got locked out of the car on Sun morning. Luckily my windows were wound down.
