Car won't start

My CLA won't start this morning.  2yr old.  Last service a year ago.  Pressed initiation button, some engine sound then immediately stopped.  Display read "depress brake. .." but I did, of course   

What can I try before I call mechanic?

Battery died liao, try the link one of the bros posted here a while ago for changing original Merc battery. Saves you a lot!

Isn't your ride only a few months old?

Yup.  Battery dead.   Got to replace.  How come I go for regular yearly servicing and still kenna?   Is it common?  Never ever happened to me with my previous cars.  

Any indication before I should change?

It happens to my merc rides too. Quite common issue. For me now, every 2yrs, change car battery to be on the safe side.

Recording cameras with 24/7 surveillance mode tends to tap on the vehicle's battery. If your vehicle is parked with heavy human traffic, it tends to suck up more juice than usual. But of course, the camera should be equipped with a voltage sensor which will shut itself off the moment it detects low voltage in the battery.

If your camera runs on the 12v socket, you need not worry about this.
