Blow off valve for A200 / A180

Have to be careful when selecting the BOV, especially in vehicles with a mass airflow system.

Installing a wrong BOV may cause incorrect air readings and overly rich idle, stumbling and stalling problems.

Better to check with a qualified workshop for the compatibility.

5cents opinion :phew:

I googled for some information. Due to the way the engine works - the boost pressure is ECU controlled and instead of a traditional blow off valve, the valve is solenoid actuated by the ECU. So bog standard blow off valves won't work.

There's at least one person selling a kit that attaches downstream to this solenoid-actuated valve but it's for the A250.

I can guess that even if it works the acoustic effect will sound a little silly because
1. it's a DCT, shifts are almost instateneous so there's hardly throttle liftoff between gears - not enough air to create any significant sound
2. 0.7bar (10psi) boost only - again, not enough air
3. too many gearshifts due to it being 7 speed - so it's always going to sound quite lame
4. because of the camtronic system, at low speed cam setting, the throttle valve is going to be more open than usual, and there's not going to be much backpressure in front of the throttle valve to vent - yet again, not enough air

You can _sorta_ hear how the engine vents excess boost even in stock condition. Windows down, rev hard and then suddenly let go of the accelerator. It's only in this situation when you're going to have enough excess boost to have any nice acoustic effects.
