Gear issue

Yes, bro littlewhite, I encountered this same issue about a month ago, although no idling problem like yours but couldn't start the car at all due to compression lost according to C&C SE! Need to replace the 2 wheels with the teeths which I saw in your picture exactly like mine, some of the teeths on the wheel broke! (Sorry, didn't know the exact name of the wheel called)

This is not uncommon for M271 engine since W203 including E Class models that uses the same engine too

Google "M271 camshaft adjuster sprocket" you will see many such failures

All I can say is you are lucky to pick it up early before it causes more damage to the engine.

Looks like worn-out gears, perhaps due to starvation of lubricating oil or inferior material?

Perhaps the engine was not allowed to warm up a bit before full acceleration?

It is a shame this happens to mercedes engines!

I expect the engineering to be much better.

That is why these days I am no longer a badge-whore.

Hi I am also having this issue on my w212. So far for those bros having this issue and have checked, what is the investigation results?

Had my 4 yrs 3 mths W212 105K km auto cam adjusters replaced recently for $3000+ 2 months ago by AutoSpritze.

Problem started 1 year back when once in a blue moon the car will not accelerate, then suddenly it was back to normal.

3 months back CEL (Check Engine Light) comes on!

Diagnostic check pointed to the cam adjusters!

I travel to Johor daily and put in about 750km a week.

Didn't want to take the risk the car die on me on the other side of the causeway. :)

Some unlucky owners get the problem as early as <60,000km

Cheers

I'm a MB Whore! :)
