E280 2006 Gear stuck at gera3

My E280, gearbox giving major problems:

1) neutral to D; causes a heavy "knock" forward.

2) When driving off, gear seems at the same speed, i.e. 3
Cause when I shift to "manual" it shows 3 - and moving it up or down creates no impact.

3) Strangely, no Malfunction code is shown.

What needs to be done, please?

E280 w211 is equipped with the 7 speed G tronic gearbox

Some issues with the W211 and above mentioned gearbox before

probably gearbox seen better days... best to get it check

 

I also have a 06 e280... Touch wood, mine is so far so good... still smooth at 121k km

Go to a workshop that is good with Merc to check

Your symptom seems to be similar to mine E230 also 7g tronics

When I change from N to D or R, it will give a big jerk and noise is quite loud

Check if there is any ATF leaks, if yes, dun drive anymore and tow to WS

If no leak, you may be able to drive slowly to WS.

Pray hard it is the electro hydraulic module that is kaput, 2k+ to replace in outside workshop

Workshop hokkien boss called it " tian pan"

Common issue with the 7g tronics

If really gearbox kaput, think you can think of scrapping leow as the GB cost 10K and above.

But mechanic told me that Merc GB seldom kaput, always that " tian pan"
