Dear Forummers

howdy !!

Am in a serious dilemma :banghead: :banghead: ... hope you smartie people can give me some precious advise

I found 2 Benzes ... a W124 and W140.

S280 W140

- excellent condition 1 owner

- depre about 6K pa (asking price, havent neg yet_

- looks clean and unmolested

- seats, electronics etc etc ... 100% working condition

- however, dubious ownership history. I called Cycle. They cannot find the history of this car.

Suspect dealer trying to smoke me

- to buy this car, i have to give up my current car (fully paid) + take a extra loan. The loan interest is sky high at 4.75%!!!

- Wife loves this car

E200

- excellent condition 1 owner

- depre about 4K pa (asking price, havent neg yet)

- looks clean and unmolested

- Wife hates it !!! bcos she thinks it looks old fugy (no offense to current W124 owners) and she hates the body color.

- seats, electronics etc etc ... 100% working condition

- no service history with Cycle. I suppose all external workship

- to buy this car, i can still keep my current Jap car + I can fully pay up this car, no loan at all... ie 2 cars.

The only complaint i have with this W124 is that i fear W124 will leak oil, gear box breakdown and bcos it is darn slow in acceleration

what would you do if you were me ??

Opinions, suggestions, brickbrats, rotten eggs etc are all welcome

Thank you for reading my long winded post !! :D

The S280 in question - white and supposed 59,000kms ?

2 words - don't touch. We have fellow members on the lookout for W140s as well and I quote "it's very hard to find good conditioned models".

Both W124 and W140 may suffer from oil leaks, gearbox problems etc. I would strongly advise you to buy a 97/98 W140 if you can find one. 94/95 models suffer from the dreaded wiring harness disintegration due to the use of recycled materials to construct the harness.

Bro

dun buy anything that that your wife hates, othewise she will also hate you should anything goes wrong... :2guns:

All used cars will have the same problem, oil leake, gearbox, suspension, etc etc.... if cannot take it, no point looking at used cars.

S280 - careful road & insurance - siong hor... ; I think the parts cost is oso higher compared to the W124

E200 - okay la afforadable; parts cheap, repair cheap...

Like me lor, i got a E200 W124 3 mths ago as my 2nd Car... enjoy....,the cool ride, steady and comfortable......

any used car, after you BUY then you will know the problem, and got to fixed the problem, can fixed okay, cannot fixed then go to Shears bridge and push it down.

good luck.... let us know if you chosee w124, can give you lobang on where to find cheap parts and repair (JB) .

MIKE and JAMES , where R U guys... give some comment la ... :bootyshake:
