Replace Air Con Cooling Coil

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I drive a W169 A170 and the AC is not cooling well. Topped up gas a few times and all AC service shops had similar advise that it is a coil leak. I don't have many years left on this car but i think it still justifies a proper fix.

Here's the part I'm hoping to get some opinion. I have been given an estimate between $400 - $950 and down time between 1-3 days by different air con service guys. I've also been told that there are low quality PRC made coils vs Europrean OEM coils vs original MB coil.

Any advise that you guys can share while I make the decision how to tackle this?

John, it would all depends on you. Yes you...if you have the additional budget, you should get the Original MB.

If you don't have the budget, then get the cheaper option. It all depends on you.

All the best in your search.

Spoon feeding teaches you nothing....but the shape of the spoon...

depends on the cooling coils positions also.. dun think its an easy job, different car different location, but more or less, if it needs to take that amount of days to replace, then it isn't easy liao...

share with u, my panel VAN. not MB.

abt 8yrs old, replace cooling coil , cos i think wear n tear, due to leak.

abt $700-$800 . also took about 3 days or less..

on the issue whether it  justifies or not..

it comes back on asking

-the mileage of the ride?

-did u bought a 2nd hand? (which u alrdy save $ beforehand)

-can u suck it up with an faulty air con if u not want to repair?

-$700 1 day $, if u still got 2 yrs left...pretty gd deal i think, for weather in SG
