How many batteries for W212?

Went to change battery today...  Could only find the 80A one in front.

All the while i thought there is one more behind the boot :X

Bro...W212 has only one batt lah. The 2nd one in the boot is found in the S class where it's used to power the many motors for the doors & boot (soft closing) & audio system.

I believe all eco start mode comes with a smaller battery in the tyre well.

when i change my Batt at C&C....there are 2 batts. Once huge one that needs replacement 2-3 years. There other batt.... not so easy kaputt.

 

The huge one that needs replacement cost me about $700 to change for a w212. This is the main Batt.

 

The other batt (not so easy kaputt) i was told is use to power the Gear. example from Park to Drive.....etc etc. This batt seldom needs replacement at least i was told. How true....i dunno know....

I changed the main Batt under the hood.

Varta Silver Dynamic 85A for $280 (instead of $600+ quoted by C&C).

Hope I didn't get carrot.  The way I was served, I didnt like it.  Won't go back again.

 

There is a black colour box on top of the battery... any idea what is that?

Initially thought its for cabin filter, but nothing inside, its just empty box :/

My W212 has a battery in the spare wheel well, that means 2 battery for me...

There is nothing under the spare tyre for me....  unless its at the side of the boot.

I believe the newer Pre-Fl W212 has the Eco  mode, that's why they have 2 batteries. The older W212 from 09 onwards may not have Eco mode and that is why only 1 battery.

My 2 cents worth.

Those cars with ECO mode will have 2 batt where by those without ECO will have one.

this is for the New E=class... see the centre buttons? there's  one green light... that s the ECO button...

 

 

In case your's is like mine the older version... its right below the radio volume control.... same thing... green light...
