Now it has gone back to $289.imho still cheap!Unker ordered on Tues, arrived on Wed by FedEx

This morning Ah Boon yanked out the 1+ old still working very well Blackvue DR400HD.

Stick on the new DR500GW using the old power cable.

Download Blackvue to my Note 2.

Turn on the power.

Synced the DR500GW & phone wi-fi.

Turn on the Blackvue application on my phone.

Voila! Live recording appears on my phone.

Adjusted the cam angle using tne phone video display.

Went on the road, live viewing on the phone works and temp files of the recordings can be viewed too.

Now go Boleh land if never speed police says speeding. Can show him the recording on the spot.

If Police says you speeding 130+ km/hr, say salah& show him your recording you speeding at 200+ km/hr.....hahahaha!

The DR500GW even at $289 worth considering. Especially you can view live recording on your smart phone or tablet!

Unker, congrats on your new DR500GW. I might give blackvue a second chance if my new per-owned ride gets approved by my CFO.

Enjoy your new toy bapak. However.... I maybe wrong ya, the power adapter from our old 400 unit is different from the new 500. The 500 sucks more power. This was told to me previously when I upgrade from 400 to 500. There is a new firmware recently released for the 500. I think the firmware version is 1.008e or something like that. The english firmware is just released in July 2013. My 500 unit is bought from local distributor. FYI bapak

unker...how muchie ah boon charges for installing? not your VVIP price ya...any idea?

My one different lah!

Just took out the old DR400HD with the D/S tape and tape on the new DR500GW.

Used back the old power cable - adjust the cam view with the smart phone.

Less than 10 mins. job.

I guess if you have to run the power cable and instal Ah Boon likely to charge around $50 around there.

Cheers

Having problem to set date n time.

Had changed the time zone to asia/singapore. Read that the GPS will auto set date and time but seem not my case.

Any advise?

After setting time/date on the Blackvue Viewer software, remember to save your settings!

i had the same problem too, just need to switch on your blackvue, go to open space, make sure gps is on, and press on the wifi button for 15 minutes to format the sd card.

remember to backup any data before reformat.

hope this helps

Silly question here - but if I were to replace the given 16GB card with a 64GB card, can I just put the card into Blackvue and then reformat it to "use" the replacement?

no.... u r suppose to download the file from the original card.... and transfer these files to ur new card..... before u can use them...

IIRC The max cap is 32gb microsd card preferably Class 10. I think the original is Class 6 not Class 4.

1. Full reformat (full erase) your microSd card with the reformatter soft ware from Pittasoft

SD Formatter V3.1

2. Load the latest english firmware

BlackVue DR500GW-HD English firmware v1.008e

3. Run the Blackvue viewer English language and setup your card.

BlackVue Viewer for Windows v2.032 update

4. Here's the English manual

BlackVue DR500GW-HD Manual V4.02
