Toddler car seat

Recommended Posts

Hi! i am new here. :)

I will need advice from seniors with kids here. Was told by C&C that we can only use a Mercedes child seat in the car in order for the airbags to be deactivated. No way for us to deactivate airbags in the passenger or back seats? Anyone uses other brands?

Thank you!

I remember reading from the manual that merc car seat got this transponder that will automatically deactivate the airbags. If we are to use 3rd party car seats, the airbags has to be deactivated manually.

You have to use the baby seat in the back and face rear. I am using the maxi cosi Cabriofix together with the familyfix Isofix base.

This makes taking the seat in and out easily without the seat belt mess.

Maxi Cosi Isofix FamilyFix base for baby seat. It's "plug and unplug" to get seat in and out and three light and beep sound will indicate if the seat is properly engaged.

With the seat plug in.

I use the Maxi Cosi Familyfix Isofix bases like CKlasse posted...And my kids grew up from infant seat to now toddler seats just by changing the seat and the Familyfix isofix bases remain in place...I currently use the Maxi Cosi Pearl toddler/child seat for my 2nd kid on the same base...My eldest has already progressed on to booster seats.

Hi, what about those front facing seats for toddlers? I was told must die die be merc leh...

Me too just bought 2 Maxi Cosi Pearl for the boys.

Gessim, the air bag at the rear is not de-activated and it's ok. The airbags in the C-class cannot be deactivated manually.

I just did a check on Maxi - Cosi website where there is a link that you can select the type of car you drive and see which seat is compatible or suitable for iso-fix or not.

http://www.maxi-cosi.com/ie-en/products/car-seats/car-fitting.aspx

For C180, so far only MiloFix is the one that allows iso-fix on the rear seats.

It's not just Milofix for C class. As long as the seat can attach to a Familyfix which is the Isofix base, it can be used in the c class.

I have used the Cabriofix and now graduated to Pearl using the same familyfix base.

Thanks bro Cklasse!

Btw, what's your takes on this Maxi-cosi vs other brands? Also what makes you get the familyfix with cabrio/Pearl than a Milofix?

I currently using a Cabriofix but no Familfix for the Isofix base since I was not aware about this Isofix thingy until now, and also most of the cars (not the latest) are not ISOFIX ready, so no one actually advise on that.

I was given a Cabriofix, so I just get another one. Having familyfix means you don't disturb your sleeping baby, just unplug and carry the Cabriofix out of car.

Trying to secure a baby seat with seat belt is a pain in the ass process.

With a Quinny Zapp, it's a quick transfer from car to stroller and back.

Progressing to Pearl is the only way since pearl is only for familyfix.

I believe the Milofix cannot go onto a Zapp stroller, so a Cabriofix is a better way for babies. The disadvantage is you need to pay for a Pearl when the baby outgrow the Cabriofix.

That's exactly what I was facing. I have to carry the cabriofix to the car, put seat belt and then after that remove it. really painful ordeal, it will worse when baby starts to cry and he can moves, >6mths.

I used to just fix the Cabriofix 'permanently' on the seat with seat belt fastened and then just carry him out, then put him onto the Quinny Zapp Extra.

How much is the damage for the FamilyFix and Pearl? Did you get it from Hyperstore or during those baby fair shows?

And one more thing, the cabriofix does not really ventilate air flow that well right? Not sure if you have same experience. I find my boy's back is wet with perspiration during longer ride if he is seated all time in cabrio.

Got them all from hyper store in kaki Bukit. Go for the past year model that is the same other than colour and print differences but lesser price. I bought two, so I always ask for discount.

Familyfix is about $300+ each but is priceless for the back and hassle.

Yeap, that's good advice. I dont really go for latest one too. Just so long its not too 'off' the colour.

Oh, I notice you have twins, right? Congrats on that! Everything also double, double the happiness. hehe

Thanks again bro!
