Will be getting the 16Gb because only 16Gb has white colour.

Check out apple website and will see Singtel is listed as the reseller. It's slightly larger than iPod Touch but thicker, however base on dimension, it's the same as a Nokia E51 phone, only thinner at the edge due to a curve back. Swee Swee.....and btw, HTC still uses Windows la...windows sucks!

:devil2:

$199 is a STEAL. Compare it with similarly priced phones - this is a market killer. For S$280.00 name me a smart PDA with built in enterprise functionability, great iPod features, watch movies, browse internet, strong support of 3rd party applications etc.

No need to think just buy.

In WWDC, Steve Jobs said : "Maximum price of $200 for the 8GB model will apply throughout the world".

"Today we're introducing the iPhone 3G," Jobs says, and the crowd cheers.

It's a bit thinner and more rounded at the edges than the previous version.

It's got a molded plastic back. (And this time, he caresses the word "plastic" instead of spitting it out.)

A flush headphone jack, instead of that crappy recessed one.

Details, man, details!

Here we go: 3G support means faster data downloads.

He's going to show a video of a side-by-side demo, EDGE vs 3G, downloading the fat National Geographic website. The 3G site appears in 21 seconds versus (long pause ... damn this is a boring demo) (the crowd is getting restless ... scattered laughter and whistling) 59 seconds on EDGE.

It's 2.8X faster, he says.

11:35 AM

And only slightly slower than Wi-Fi speeds (17 seconds for the same site over Wi-Fi).

And, he says, it's faster than the Nokia N95 (33 sec) and the Treo 750 (35 sec), both of which also have 3G.

Now a similar demo, viewing a 408KB email attachment, which takes 5 seconds on 3G and 18 seconds on the EDGE version.

(The same attachment takes 3 seconds on Wi-Fi, he says.)

BUY BUY BUY !!!

hmm..will this be better than getting a garmin? (for GPS purposes)

Never like apple stuffs (over-hyped, over-rated, over-price for out-dated technology)

But since its finally came with 3G, im considering....

I used to think so but not anymore. I guess it depends on one's usage too. If you're a business/gaming user profile then this is not the platform.

I equate Apple to a Mercedes-Benz.

You pay a lot not just for a computer, you pay for the logo (it's definitely nicer than a Window picture), you pay for the design (you know? the curve, the crystal casing with white colour inside, the beautiful LCD screen, the nice to have features, the mac actually sleeps with a pulsing white light like it is breathing) and you pay to be in a different group. It's a cult, it's an Apple culture. :spiderman:

Here's AT&T and Apple Store in US will do to activate iPhone, according to leaked AT&T document.

There will be a contract requirement before you can get the US$199 price. If this is the case, it will mean you can't buy the 3G iPhone unless you sign up for a 2 year plan. Think it will be the same elsewhere, including Singapore.

----------------------

***Confidential AT&T Information. For Internal Distribution Only.***

AT&T and Apple today announced that the iPhone 3G will be available in the U.S on July 11. iPhone 3G combines three products into one small, lightweight device: a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod, and it puts the Internet in your pocket with the best e-mail, web browsing, search and maps applications ever on a mobile phone.

The new version of the iPhone harnesses the power of AT&T's broad and powerful 3G mobile broadband network, which offers 3G mobile phones download speeds of up to 1.4 Mbps.

Activation Process

The new 3G device will be activated in store in both AT&T and Apple stores. Customers must accept AT&T and Apple Ts & Cs, sign a 2-year agreement, and select the data plan for the iPhone 3G before leaving the store. The current iTunes activation process will no longer be required for iPhone 3Gs, however a short tether process to unbrick the 3G device will be performed in all AT&T stores (tether cords will be provided). Apple stores will also perform this tether process, however in the event that a customer's device is not tethered in the Apple store, their device will be inoperable until they get home and tether through iTunes. Prepaid and Pick Your Plan will not be allowed on the 3G device.

It cant be USD199 for 8GB and USD299 for 16Gb,that cost less than $300 for a 3G iphone with all other attach power function, it could have some string attach just like their old iphone , network is lock or contract needed. If USD199 for 8GB 3G iphone, they gonna throw away all the nano ect...... :banghead:

Who is going to buy? Kelvin?

Must apply bank loan than buy as much as i can to re sale it, sure make pile of money than can have more than 10 less than 20 property liao.....

You are right. AT&T and Apple store require buyer to sign 2 years contract for this US$199 price and they won't sell without contract in order to stop phone hacking. It will likely be the same here.

Another piece of info....

SingTel to bring Apple's 3G iPhone to Singapore

10 June 2008

Reuters News

Singapore Telecommunications said on Tuesday it will offer Apple Inc's latest iPhone that runs on third-generation mobile technology in Singapore later this year.

SingTel did not provide a date for the release or pricing for the new iPhone.

StarHub, the city-state's second-largest telecoms firm, said SingTel's iPhone deal would not be exclusive.

"We expect all three operators in Singapore to have the iPhone by the end of the year. Smart consumers will know that the best deals will arrive when all three operators are marketing the phone," a StarHub spokeswoman told Reuters in an email.

MobileOne Ltd is the smallest operator, holding about a third of the domestic market.

SingTel said last month that its mobile associates -- Bharti Airtel Ltd, Globe Telecom Inc and Australian unit Optus -- will also bring Apple's iPhone to India, Australia and the Philippines later this year.

Apple on Monday unveiled the long-awaited 3G iPhone that will sell for as low as $199 in the United States -- half the current entry-level price -- as it targets the mass market.

The new phone offers faster Internet access and improved e-mail features for business users. The new device will go on sale on July 11 in 22 countries and regions, expanding to 70 by year-end.

Actually hor.. u guys have been misled. If u really tear apart the intel Macs. They are ahead of the industry, maybe not the processor but the components, design & technology integration.
