It's not so much about turbo or super. My personal experience after owning the W203 1.8L kompressor and now the W204 1.8L turbo, it's the gearbox that does the wonder.

MB has done an injustice to the W203 by not mating it with the 7gtronic GB. It's the 7gtronic that moves the car smoothly and with energy which the old 5 speed Gb cannot achieve.

So, if you are shopping for one, go for the 7gtronic car. Never mind the kompressor or turbo.

Tc normally will lag when it is a bigger snail but the newer Tc used are more for compliance to emission standard and economy rather than outright performance like wrx and evo. So new Tc in euro cars tend to be smaller thus should reduce the Turbo lag.

CGI torque peak curve starts earlier than kompressor's so there is pros and cons but looking at things Tc seems to be the way forward.

Not many euro car use sc liao except jag and range rover... other bros can add on.

Well, VW uses both for some of their variants and i like it very very very much. But unlike the 7G tronic, 7speed DSG is not reliable...oops, am i saying it too early? personally feels that 7 speed DSG is smoother than MB's 7G, minus the dry clutch reliability.

You're dethpicable.

Vw dsg is dual clutch but MB is regular 7sp gearbox. So Vw one smoother is right on since gear change time is very quick.

Full auto is always smoother. Dual clutch gear boxes changed fast but jerky at low speed.

I have owned 3 cars with dual clutch (DSG, PDK, M-DCT). Still don't like them for daily drive.

There is but one truly serious philosophical problem and that is suicide.
