Running in

Hi... I'm new and have been stalking this forum since I made the booking.. Collected my ride about 2 weeks ago.

Need some advice, recalled that the owner manual mention about running in for first 1500km. What does it mean? Thx

It means treat your car like a fragile toufu. Don't high rev the engine and drag gears unnecessarily...

 

OT - How come we have more and more ah buis in our forum?

Means dont drive more than 3000rpm till u hit 1000 to 15000 km. After which drive it hard in NS.

Do we really need to run in? I didn't run in as stated coz dun intend to keep the car for more than 5 years.

I also did ask the se about this running in... Se repiled doesnt matter... Already run in... But play safe la... Normal drive... Sometimes rev hard... Sometimes nia

Mercs are all factory run in so theres no such thing anymore

It's in the manual but then to each his own. To me no harm taking it easy for the 1st 1500 km. I rather err on the side of caution when it comes to such an expensive purchase from which I want to derive the most pleasure over time rather than headache.
