Gear Box Jerks

Mak

Recommended Posts

Any one has the issue where the gear box jerks when you start your Car and Gear Box jerks when you put it from Park to Reverse or Drive. This only happens during a fresh start from Park position. C&C say this is normal?!

Its the W245 CVT 7 Speed GB. Its normally at every start up. As long as i place the gear in park and then move it to reverse or drive it will Jerk. ie even when the at the end of the drive when i am parking after i place the gear to P with the engine on and then realise i could reverse a bit more and shift it back to R it will Jerk. and the jerk comes with a fairly loud sound.

I learnt that the only way to get around this problem is to make sure the GB is in N first and leave it there for 1 sec before engaging P. Only then i will not experience the problem at start up.

Any ideas what could be the problem or is it normal as C&C claim?

it's normal but what you can do to mitigate is to 'hold' the gear before shifting - ie, instead of the just 'turn the key, pull the gear, and go', pause for a second before you shift the gear and it would be fine.

Agree. i will wait for a few seconds before changing the gear to D or R and there will be no jerk or the noise is softer
