yup yup. can't be more true. i basically memorized all the chinese i learnt, but clean forgot it cos i never saw the real value of studying it by heart, only studied by head. one of my life's regretsss. i feel ashamed that im a chinese but cannot hold a proper conversation in mandarin... so... trying to learn all over again now!
