Cheers mr w124! Karma +1 for you too!

As for the debate on whether to use mineral or synthetic - I guess the frequency of your service intervals will be slightly extended on using synthetic as opposed to mineral oils.

The viscosity of the synthetic oil has to be at least 40W in order for it not to "burn" off. 30W tends to be a little too thin for older vehicles like our cars. When using mineral oil, my service interval was about 3mths/5,000kms. Synthetic oil around abt 5mths/10,000kms.

Yeah! Mileage is pretty low for my car - according to the dealer it was a company car for the past 10 odd years, don't know how true that is!

Trying to increase FC to 8.8-9.0 km gradually - don't know whether that would be possible!

I think quite true lah. Try calling C&C Pandan to dig out servicing records. I'm sure they will oblige. :)

9.0 FC is a dream for me that will never materialize

just got it a few days ago..so far pretty alrite..still monitoring...anyway in a hot day O2 content in air is lesser therefore u have less O2 to burn the fuel mixture even thou have big spark( nology amp).

O2 + fuel + Big Spark(nology)= Power ( morning or evening)

O2(less) + fuel + Big Spark(nology)= less Power (afternoon)

Hi to all,

This is my 1st posting though I've been logging in for some time now. Thought this is a interesting thread, been driving this ride since May01. Very solid machine, tempted to change but can't bear to part with this. Just extended another 10yr COE. And heres the $,

Model: 1989 200E 8V

Mileage: Unknown due change of meters

Enhancers: Pivot Voltage Stabilizer, Surbo.

Fuel: 95, managed 8 - 8.5km/l

Total Cost of servicing and repairs from May01 to Nov07 - $9500. (Haven't compile post Nov07 receipts yet)

Insurance: $500+

Estimated average cost per year from May'01 to May'08

Insurance+ Road Tax + Service and Repair= $4200/yr

I'm certain that the fuel consumption will improve much more once all the under-the-bonnet stuffs are overhauled. Looking at new steering, paint work, rims, door panels, solar films...list not finalized yet.

My averaged cost of running a E200 W124 (90's vintage, 370,000km on the Odometre) is S$800-1,000 p.m. inclusive of petrol, insurance, tax, ERP (one trip downtown to inner-CBD a day and back), weekly carwash and vacuuming, road tax AND appx 4-mth interval servicing and the odd repairs.

Admittedly, my wholeday parking is borne by my employer. If you have to pay for downtown central CBD season parking, add another S$350. Add S$200 p.a. for his annual make-over waxing/carpet-shampooing.

Further caveat - I hardly park at URA carpark, and consume 'only' one orange S$1 coupon booklet every 3 mths on average.

My parents are right - ''Son,'' they used to say, ''always buy quality if you can help it. If you can't afford quality, then become aware of the inevitable compromise you'll suffer and make an informed decision.''

Hmm..right now my monthly expenditure for my W124 is as follows:

Petrol $300.00

Road Tax $151.00

Insurance $40.00

Misc $33.00

ERP $30.00

Parking $60.00 - $70.00

Parking's cheap as that's only for my outings when I go out with my girlfriend =p

Not working now so add around $200 when I was having my attachment! :D

Car washes, and vacumming are done at home:D
