W211 E200K - How to replace dip beam and see oil levels

Hi Guys,

Just like to find out if anyone knows how to replace the H7 dipped beams on the W211 E class?

Also, the MFD is showing top up 1 litre of engine oil on next stop. How do I access the actual engine oil level display?

I've tried the crank position 1, switch to engine status, but somehow, no matter how many reset I pressed, it still does not enter this section...

Not a very friendly car to meddle with

A warm welcome to the forum sturtles and we hope you enjoy your stay with us! :)

IIRC there is no engine oil level display on the W211 MFD and U probably has to use the engine dip stick.

BTW What do you mean replacing the H7 dipped beam?

Replacing the bulbs, replacing the whole headlamp or retrofitting after mkt HIDs?

Cheers

Hi Kepiting1SG,

Thanks for the welcome!

I've been lurking around here for sometime..

Finally needed to decloak to get some help.

The MFD tells me to top up 1 litre of engine oil, so I'm trying to find the dipstick...

The engine bay looks somewhat like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mercedes-c-e-clk-slk-engine-1-8-kompressor-M271-/250844300726

It also indicates the right side dipped beam requires attention, and I'm fighting a tug-O-war with the bulb latch.. and the SBC housing is hot

There is a technique to bulb replacement. I was fighting with it for over an hour and almost gave up until I realised there are 2 latches either side of the bulb. You need to turn the bulb holder latches while anti clock the bulbs. A bit tricky but once you get the technique, its under 5 minutes.

Before I found out, I was cursing and swearing at MB for a good hour! And you would loose a bit of knuckle skin along the way.

Have fun!

:)
