wheel alignment

Recommended Posts

is it true that for all car the handle will tend to veer to the left when driving when i let go off it? i ask my SE how come the car will veer to the left when handle is straight, he say that because the roads are design to be slanted. and that has nothing to do with the wheel alignment of my merc.

I had the same issue previously and CnC rectified it by somewhat changing to a longer bolt (front) and also replaced for me some parts to adjustable type that will allow further adjustment. Not really sure what exactly they change. They told me nowadays the new batch of MB will come with the adjustable type.

I got the same explanation from them, told them off immediately. Who they are trying to bluff? I have been driving so many cars through the years and none of the cars jap. korean or continentals veer to the left immediately after release of the steering wheel. I explain I do not expect perfectly zero veering and it is fine if the veer is gradual over two lamp-posts distances due to road conditions he explained earlier, but not immediately after I release the steering wheel on a perfectly straight road. Finally the SE admitted that the camber bolts need to be changed but they have received strict instructions from their principal not to touch or meddle with any factory settings. However, if I insist, they will try and rectify it for me. I insisted and finally they book another slot for me next week. It will take one whole day. Will update once this is done.

Did C&C ask you to pay for the re-alignment and parts???

I am still waiting for the 2nd appointment to visit their "more expert" workshop at Pandan to continue rectifying my steering vibration issue.

Anyone else has the same issue? I'm also quite piss off why a new car can have all these veering and vibration problems. Worst than a jap car. Perhaps I'm just unlucky...

Update, went to CnC ubi today, left my car there the whole day and collected it after work. The fix camber bolt was changed and the camber and toe was readjusted. Result is the veering left was history.

I am a happy man, well done, CnC.

I was also given the record of my car alignment data initial readings, another record after the change of the alignment bolt, and final adjustment record. The final record shows all readings within Mercedes target data. Comparatively, he initial record shows camber and toe readings were out slightly. That is the reason for the veer left problem.

Thought only I have the steering vibrating problem and seems to me that veering left is more common.

I am going to tell CnC that i will not collect car if they cannot rectify the steering vibration when i send in tomorrow.

Bro, what model you're driving? Can share the before n after records? Cos I've changed my wheels and must pay for the alignment, rather to do it outside. Thanks

I went in 2 weeks ago for this steering vibration. They blame on my tyres cos I've changed my stock 17" to 18".

Mine is on fully stock by CnC. Let's see what they have to say.

FYI, I have swapped few rims and tyres to test run and still having the same issue. Even tried on original AMG rims and vibration still there but level of vibration is different. My personal conclusion is that the problem is not at the rim/tyre, likely somewhere else.

mine is the FL 180K. I can pm you the target camber and toe readings. The rest is not useful for you. BTW, those who have veer left problem, please note that there is nothing wrong with wheel alignment, it is the toe and camber settings. BTW, the camber adjustment bolts need to be changed for my model because it comes with fixed bolts and cannot be adjusted. Advise new cars to go ahead and get it done immediately, since it is free. If already upgrade your rims, nothing u can do lieo except go to outside workshop or borrow a set of stock rims for the alignment, after alignment change back.

I had the same issue. Took delivery of my C180K around mid June and complained within one week. My SE said let's go for test drive. He say in the car for 10 seconds with me and immediately said he will arrange a service booking. Next day morning dropped the car at 8.00 am and collected at 6pm....all fixed.

I said to him that this seems like an issue most new Merc, he kept quiet. Looks like we need to formally complain to C&C - coz there could be other defects which surface after some years.....any ideas?

There is a possibility. Do a high-speed balancing. It may resolve your vibration issue.

Done already! Don't know is it due to Goodyear eagle f1 tyres. Today changed to c coupe stock rim with conti tyre, quite smooth less road vibration but still steer left. Find 1 day next week to drink pandan loop coffee

Sent in my ride to cnc today. Got a same FL W204 ride for use. Now got the chance to feel another same ride model.

Initial test, car veering a little to left not as much as mine before it was being rectified previously. I can feel very small vibration but not as severe as mine. Looks like the current model indeed has these common problems. I'm slowly loosing faith with this ride unless CnC can find a solution.
