Ticking sound driving me crazy

Mine is the 2011 FL W204. I have that same ticking noise coming from the center of my dashboard, when driven over uneven road, or those white lines (speed regulator).Took deliver in Jan, sound came in March, It comes on and off, also probably depending on the temperature. Have not brought it in for a check.

When I cannot tolerate the noise, I just press down on the center of the dashboard. As I push down there will be "tock" sound, probably because there is a hollow space within, and the ticking sound will be gone for awhile, before it irritates me again.

So it seems to be a common problem for us.

Came back from CnC.

They change some plastic component at the dashboard. Ie glove compartment center compartment. But but but... The irritating ticking sound still there. The service consultant ask me to go back tmr.. Haiz...

Anyone actually DIY like plucking the whole dashboard to troubleshoot yourself or get some professional to do it ???

It's like plastic rubbing and squeaking each other. Not that loud but it's consistent as long as I'm driving on uneven road...

Tick tik tick..... Haiz. Really like the car a lot but this prob....

My c250 coupe was having ticking sound at the centre aircon vent during the 1st week but after removing the gps windscreen holding, the sound gone. 2 weeks later had this ticking sound at the rear seat area. Went to pandan loop and they've identified the sound was from my third brake light. So book an appointment 1 week later. But before the day come, I've a error message "check tire pressure" so went to tire shop and found a nail in my rear right tire. After repairing the tire, from that day, the ticking sound gone. Until now about 6 weeks, no more ticking sound.

They manage to solve one major clicking sound on the dashboard. They remove the whole dashboard, put felt all over the place and the dash look and feel more sturdy and REMOVE a lose clip. However during the test drive, the front light and front seat is makeing some creaking sound as well. So i enquire about the problem and they feel they should solve the prob as well... Now the car is in pandan loop and im driving their courtesy car since my car is there for quite some time

Thanks for the reply bro, will send my car there to check.

Who is the Service Advisor that you talk to? Can PM me? By the way, how long to leave the car there and is it under warranty repair?

After diagnosing the ticking sound problem, manage to zero into the main cause of the sound. It's from the lower right hand side of the dashboard (beside the aircond temperature dial - see photo attached circled in red, pardon my sexy leg) . Usually, we will rest our left leg on this part when driving, especially those with long legs. If you just apply some pressure on this part, you will hear lots of tick and creak sound due to plastic rubbing plastic. If you rest your leg on this part when driving, you can hear ticking sound when going through uneven road, as your leg is applying pressure on this part when the car is bumpy.

All you need to do is add felts at this part, don't ask me how, I just get C&C to do it for me. I also did the same part on the left front passenger seat side (in case I need to fetch some long legs ladies :P)

No more ticking sound for me now. :)

That's your left knee or right knee? Ha ha, just joking...

Interesting to know that by applying pressure on the console can create ticking sound...

Thanks for sharing...

Just sharing cause seems like a lot of bro here got this ticking sound problem. Not sure if all come from the same part, but at least this solve my problem.

Actually, it takes lots of patience to rectify noise problem, especially if it is intermittent noise.

But I recall quite clearly the ticking sound comes from the dashboard. When i push the top down, the sound diasppears.

i was also thinking, could it be due to the factory fitted Command Online.

Anyone with the Audio 20 having this ticking sound?

the ticking sound started again and i moved my left leg away from the center piece, and the sound disappears. hayato you are right. thanks bro.

Perhaps you can ask C&C to add some felts at that area when you send in your car for servicing, but I recommend you to go to Pandan Loop, cause need to ask the body & paint section to do the job.

My E250 used to have ticking sound too, especially when turning or going over humps.

Found out that the seat belt was rubbing against the leather seat belt at the connector area and thus causing the ticking sound.

C&C taped the area with some cloth like wrapping tape and it is now ok.

Yup.. The CnC apply felt in most major area of my car. Neatly :)

Now the car is quiet.

Except"....... The driver car seat.... Sigh,,,!!! Now whenever I shift my leg to apply brake or Accelerator, the squeaking car seat sound will appear! All i need to do id press my seat and the squeaking sound appear :(

Anyone has recommendation any workshop can remove my car seat and solve this prob? Really appreciate. Why I am not going back CnC? Because they normally will take my car for a week and I cannot afford the time :)
