With emissions control getting more stringent in EU, more car makers are going for smaller engines. Volvo has already started. With Mercedes going this route, I think more marques will follow.

The old Pre FL W211 E200ML Supercharge output is 164bhp.

While the C180ML was "detuned" to 143 bhp.

It's the same M271 engine which with TC up it to 204 bhp for the

current C250 & E250 sedan/coupe & E Cabrio.

Diamler might go for weight loss with more Alu material for the FL W212 E @ 1.6L or higher engine cap.
