Just to share with all bros here to be careful when placing the spare tyre back in place at the boot. Aftre you place and position the spare tire in place, Dont Tighthen too tight..... The mechanics who put back my spare tyre, tighten it too tigh and broke the plastic stud.....

Its the part when you place the Tools Kit on top of yr spare tire to secure it.

Just be careful.....mine broken but had to live with it..... hopefully it dont vibrate too much.

Maybe i use Super glue to at least secure the base of the plastic stud.

Thks for sharing! When I used the spare tyre last month, I was rather in doubt whether will this little "plastic" stud will break upon tighten? Hence dare not tighten it too tight!

Did you ask the mechanics / shop to compensate? Super glue does not help.

I had the same experience very recently. HAve to replaced the plastic screw plus the black plastic plate that holds the spare. Luckily the tyre shop cover the cost of repair.

Upon very closely examine, the Plastic stud is to HOLD the tools kit in place. Its NOT to hole the tire in place. As such I decided to just leave it alone. Put some cloth around the Tool Kit to prevent vibration.....

No, I didnt ask the mechanics nor workshop to compensate as "accident" do happen and they dun make much from changing tires. BTW i change 4 brand new tires n replace my best existing tire with damage tire in the boot. That how the breakage happen.

Am thinking of using those 'plastic putty" that harden when mixed two parts together to "glue" the stud in place. The broken part is at the base not mid way of the stud.

Hi bro..I remove my spare tyre and tool kits..as we are running in Singapore roads..I think we don't need them and I will put it back when driving up NS highway..after all all our tyres are tubeless and it won't go flat in mins..cheers is my 2 cents and sharing..it cut down lots of weight to your car boot..:hand:

GOOD LUCK ! Hope it helps and as I have remove my spare tyre I can feel the difference and so much lighter..think of it BMW has no spare tyre as most are run-flat..some change it to normal tyres they still do not have a spare even they drive up north..
