Tock Tock

Hi, I'm driving a W204. I just realised recently that when I steer my car, there a "Tock Tock" sound. Don't know whether it's from the steering, ball bearing or tyres. Is that normal? Anyone experience this?

Bro, when you steer left ? or right ? or anywhere also will have this noise ?

Is the tock tock sound very distinctive ? can you judge where it coming from roughly ?

Did it happen when you cold start or after driving for a few minutes?

hi bro.. I had the same issue on my W203... and I brought it down to Star Black to check it out just yesterday and the problem's solved now! :D

I suggest perhaps you could check with Michael (DarkAv) and maybe take it down to Star black to check it out... it could be the lubrication or steering column or wheel bearing.. my case was simple.. just the lubrication...

Very distinctive. Should not be from tyres. When I steer right & left, I can hear it. Even after driving for some time.

i probably had the same sound too coming from somewhere around the steering column when making turns on slow speed... brought it to StarBlack and they rectified it for me... it won't go away totally but the sound should be negligible from thereon...

Went to C&C early morning. They detected the prob straight away but as Bro hkhamateur mentioned here, they can't do it today. Appt fixed on Tue.They're saying this is a know prob for W204.

During delivery, C&C need to remove the undercarriage cover to dunno inspect what. And W204 is the only model with a metal cover. So when they cover back, sometimes the screw alignment is out. Thus this problem occurs. Now they got to check whether is screw or the front arms of the car.

Will update you guys after Tue.

Since your car is under waranty, I guess you should ask them to rectify the screws and test... and if the screws are not the problem, i guess you have to ask them to change the front arms... it should be free as you have waranty right?

for my case.. part of the tock tock was due to the front arms and partly due to some undercarriage something that needed lubrication :P

Said they can't be sure till they check. That is 1 possibility & another possible cause is the front arms.
