that's nice. but nope...mine didn't come with service, the mileage was around 67-78K when I got it. i guess it might be done probably there was "zero cost" since the servicing would be knocked off against the Service Credits that come with the new car? (Not sure)...

Ah, that could be the reason they did the servicing since there are left-over credits  but now this case is making me uncomfortable as they are not as `reputable' as they claim to be! That is the reason why we go and buy from them right? at a premium above market value and mind u, its is a significant premium!

I try to avoid "open-heart" surgery... but yes.... my own cars are little "frankensteins"... subject to my operations :becky:

Was narrowly down to 2 cars and was planning to purchase one of them, the sales person went off for multiple drives with another customer although I told him I will be down at a specific time...waited an hours for that sales person to test drive 3-4 different cars with another customer....I'm too patient I guess, drove off R-Auto feeling upset :< and never went back...

bought a new ride instead =)

Abt 2 yrs + ago I went to RA Ubi Megamall once & that will be the last time I go there!

Was asking the price of a FL W211 & quoted me $109k!

I negotiated for low $100k+

Sales guy told me at that price the car would not be there waiting for me to buy!

Maybe Unker is old - just walked off & told myself never to go back again!

Unlike many years back - same Ubi Megamall - another used car dealer!

Looking at a used W124 - Met Mr Rude salesman - told his colleague whom I know to tell this guy dun be rude to Unker or else I send someone over to knock him off! :fish:

so far republic auto any response>

Sorry for MIA, was pretty caught up with work and travel...here's the update:

After speaking to various parties within C&C, managed to negotiate down the cost to just $500 from almost $7K, phew! I guess I could have pushed further, but I think will just let it go, was quite busy with other commitments as well and I really want to get the car fixed and not to let it drag on.

So end of the day, kudos to C&C... I think they handled this pretty well. Republic Auto did try to help by connecting me to C&C but not much f/up after that.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the car will remain relatively trouble-free for a while :)

Thanks all bros for your listening ear :)

frankly i think RA's selling point is just the assurance that their vehicles were properly serviced after by C&C, and the extended warranty coverage (although quite doubtful of the usefulness of this warranty now)...that's about all.

i have came across even more dodgy Merc dealers:

a) advertised as direct owner on sgcarmart and turned out to be a dealer. it was a e200 ngt and he intentionally understate the annual depreciation by (a) reducing the age of the car by 1 year (yes, 1 full year), and (B) for PARF, used 55% instead of 35% for NGT cars

B) another "direct owner" case again who claimed his car is C&C distributor unit and fully serviced by C&C, but my friend who inspected the car told me it was clearly a parallel import unit

so i guess that's how i ended up with RA, lesser of 2 evils :)

Like one bro quoted "an used car dealer is always an used car dealer" ... RA posted my previous ride (when I traded in) in sgcarmart as "owned by University teacher". :becky: I hardly study (only sec 4), how to be uni teacher ?

So take their words with pinch of salt.

Yup ....always discount what they say by 50%...it's sad isn't it, people lose their ethics and integrity to sell their wares..and looks like the used car industry overall has LITTLE if not NO integrity as a whole ... I pity not just car buyers but more the dealers who have to live the rest of their lifes being labeled nasty names by their customers

How many of these used car dealers can hold their heads high with pride when they tell their friends, sons, daughters, grandchildren that they are a used car dealer?
