3rd Brake Light replacement

hi everyone

just discovered that my 3rd brake light died (confirmed by w/s). didn't know that LED have such short life span, and damaged was more than $200/-....:Cry:

my last ride, just need to change bulb, cost only $5/- and can also DIY.....

How old is yr ride & model? Did u check out other workshop for the replacement?

my ride is 6 yrs old....that's not the end. to cut the story short, after i brought the car to the w/s to check, they say must replace the whole set of led which they do not have stock and need to order, i told them to proceed, stock came in yesterday.

this morning, as i was driving to work, malfunction light was still showing, BUT, i was surprised the 3rd brake lights was working, how i notice was when at the traffic light junction, while waiting, i look behind and notice the reflection from a dark coloured lorry that my 3rd light was lighted. to reconfirm, i went to a basement carpark to check (got my wife to step on the brake peddle) and true enough, it was lighted.:shocked:

So now, I suspect its due to wiring fault, spoke to w/s, they say to bring the car down , they will do an euc reset to see if the malfunction light will disappear, if not, will have to change the whole set even though the light is functioning.

HOW bro ?? any suggestions ??:decision:

hey bro,

I've got this problem before.... it started of as intermittent on and off error, then w/s plug out the 3rd brake light and reconnect again then its fine for a few days. but a week later malfunction sign again.

In the end need to change whole set. i think was $220 or soemhting

Hi Eric,

let yr workshop do whatever they can then monitor again. Best is to change the LED since is already 6 years old. After replaced if the problem persist is time to change w/s . I would prefer to seek 2nd opinion before change any parts. U can look for DarkAv for advise.
