in Ang mo country.. most cars are parallel parked. So, the standing lights is there to warn other cars that I am parked.. and u switch on the side on the street.. just to let other cars see you better.

sorry lah my first non-japanese car.. :bounce:

Scenario - you wish to park on a dimly lit / dark section of road at night.

Turning on your standing/parking light (left or right side depending on direction of parking) will enable potentially kayu driver to ensure things don't go bump in the night. Low volt bulb so not to worry about draining your battery.

1. Turn the light switch to either one of the 2 position u mentioned.

2. off ur engine.

3. step out n close door.

4. go in front of car and can see liao.

very useful for parallel parking at nite. :bounce:

When I first had a conti car with this feature, concerned friends would always tell me I forgot to switch off my lights (and/or one side of the lights had failed) when I parked the car at my favourite mama stall.
