Hey that sounds interesting. did u have to buy the axle second hand or was it new. my axle has that sort of aerolane like noise whenever i take my foot off the accelerator when driving. will prob have to change it soon. 16v sounds tempting. kel, roughly how much did yours cost?

mine lor!! change 8v to 16V, that time bo bian!!

when bought this car 2nd hd! was too noisy!! screaming whenever drive!

so when change rear axle, decide to change to 16V, cos more power and better FC.

ic..do you by any chance know what is the axle ratio of a 8v and 16v? was qouted $800 for 16v axle and drive shaft. any comment on price?

Guys, this is just a suggestion. Forgive me if it sounds ridiculous. Would it be possible to put in the rear axle of a 250 or 280? that would yield more power right?

it can be done..1st thing to sort out will be the size diff between a 200e axle and 280e axle(extensive modification needed)..once that is covered the axle ratio will be the next consideration..200e 16v ratio is 3.27, I'm estimating 280e will have ratio of less then 3.0... due to big diff in axle ratio u gain some and lose some..i.e highway cruising will improve and town driving will suffer big time.

p/s : tech masters of sgmerc do correct me if I'm wrong.

sirbenz, you will sure get a BETTER FC!! provided your car is well tune!! CO must be good.

mr w124, 250?? i tot that is W123 LWB version?? for W124, I tot its 200, 220, 230, 260, 280, 300..

anyway if you looking @ the higher number rear axle, the shaft have to modi.., but best stick around the same range la, maybe can go up abit, say from 200 go to 230 max?

MMB, dun wait la, faster change your 8V 230 axle to 16V 230 axle, you will surely see the difference!!!

hi kel. I thought we could use the 250 diesel one. you remember the old merc 124 cabs that used to be here? i assume that they have the axles at propel. the 230e one sounds tempting too..... since i got to change soon might as well get a better one.
