Do we still need spare tyre in SG?

Do you think we still need to keep our spare tyre in the car trunk (when we are driving within Singapore)?

Reason I ask is because since I came back from USA in 2008, I experienced two times tyres deflated, punctured by nail. Each time I just need to make a phone call and tyre repair specialist will arrive and fix it up within a few minutes, and the car can be driven again no need to use spare tyre. Thinking of leaving it at home, what do you guys think?

Fix in few minutes, not respond lah :fish:

But when you call any tyre specialists, they immediately respond to your call, so that also count right?

Are they 24x7?

care to share which ones you use? Would love to leave my spare at home too.

Looks like they can repair faster than I can change to my spare anyway!

Btw, if call AA, will they fix the tyre? Or just tow to the nearest shop?

AA will change your tyre if U have the spare one!

If your tyre is not damaged and can be pumped up, they will do it for U.

Or U can enjoy their free towing service! :becky:

Does this one also service or repair on the spot ?? if say is a repairable puncture ?

Yup, repair on the spot :becky:

They also carry a few type of tyres on the lorry, never ask them what those are for, but I guess is for changing non repairable one.

Guys...what's wrong with changing tyres & getting our hands dirty. It's a guy thing that as a serious driver, one must know & be willing to change tyres. This will also go a long way to impress ladies who may need our help.

Incidentally, the repair tyre kit that comes in a can is convenient, but your tyre repair job will be tough. The foam that is coated in the tyre is almost impossible to claen away. Very likely that you'll need a new tyre in the end...

really a matter of perspective - no right or wrong i guess.

in those days, probably easier, cos 14-15" max.

not sure if it has happened to you, try changing your 18-19" monster, in your office wear... ( :

Definitely one must know how to change, but carrying extra weight from the spare tyre all the time sure affect a little on fuel economy and performance each day not to mention a total of 365 days

Just remove the spare tyre set, 19.6kg! Man... Think by doing this I should gain another 5 BHP!

For timing, will go do a retest to see if I get better timing for 0 to 100km/h.

I remove spare tires from all my rides too. Find them quite unnecessary. Having said that, do note the the weight distribution will be affected, albeit minor. ^^

i have been told that the spare tyre actually serve as a safety protection to buffer against rear collision...with the impending problem with some insurance companies finding ways and means to void our policy...something worth pondering in case someone suffers a whiplash or injuries to the rear passengers caused by a rear-end collision...
