W204 comand retrofit

Hello All,

I am thinking of buying a set of used COMAND NTG 4 for W204 from Ebay, the price is USD750 and come with one year warranty. The problem is ,it doesn't come with Mal/Sing map, can we install the mal/sing map to the COMAND?

Anyone can install the COMAND NTG 4 to W204?

Have you got an installer? Better check out the price of installation before committing. The price of the map is about $350.

The parts cost around $900 only and he charge 3.1k for labour and map?

IMHO

I've bought >600 times over eBay over the years and the 1 thing I don't do is to buy a COMAND set over eBay.

1. COMAND unit for USA, Japan & Europe are totally different in their system. Buy the wrong set - God bless you

2. COMAND Navigation is only 1 feature of it and they do not used garmin based Maps. COMAND uses Maps from TeleAtlas - www.teleatlas.com

3. Beside COMAND options there are other options like using after market Multi Media Interface. Some uses Garmin GVN53 for navigation and U can load your MSM or no more MFM but now call MAM - My Asean Maps or even maps from Jerome Wee.

Other MMI uses Window CE based Aigis Maps.

Please take note that your GPS is only as good as your maps. If your maps are very outdated, it's as good as almost useless.

4. COMAND unit has an anti-theft feature that the COMAND is assigned to the car chassis number & has to be unlocked and code for the car intended to retrofit the COMAND. IIRC If they are not unlocked, once U turn on the set, it will becomes a "brick"

5. It's not like installing a "normal" Headunit by connecting all the power/earth/speaker/rca cables. Coding of the COMAND to the car is required.

6. Who can do this coding? - AD eg CnC or someone with knowledge & has the XSentry Software in Developer Mode to do the coding & installation.

7. CnC do not do retrofit of COMAND even if you wanna pay the >$12,000 option.

8. Up to late last year and the years before, no one in Singapore can retrofit COMAND. It may sound like Rocket Science but is not cos it's a "closely guarded" secret for the installer to do the retrofit.

In the past, some GB were organized getting guys "called COMAND Gurus" eg Miro from Australia, Steve from US or Mitesh from UK to retrofit COMAND in Sg.

9. Now we have 2 possibilities in Singapore for the retrofit

1. camber53 - MB Retrofit - COMAND Specialist

2. ricric_lo - Mercedes Factory Navigation / Comand Retrofit Expert

You can ask these 2 guys if U buy on your own, they will instal for U!

b. Dun think they want you to bring food to their restaurant to be cooked

Beside retrofit of COMAND, these guys alo retrofit UCI - Universal Communication Interface - Providing connectivity & full control & display for 3.5mm Aux Input/USB Input/iPod/iPhone input.

Do a search or go thru the folders which I have left many info pertaining to COMAND & after market MMI!

Choice is yours!! :hand:

i bought one and install it ,,, radio and sound are good but the screen won't open :S 

 

i did not cut any wire only change the harness wire the one that from the screen to the radio 

 

could you tell me how to make it open
