I think I read somevwhere that some of the new C class variants r built in S Africa, hence the lower cost than the cgi predecessor which is built in their germany plant. Correct me if I m wrong.

If the latest variant (face-lifted ones) W204 are from S Africa and hence the lower OMV compared to the C180CGI Stuggart-made, then we appreciate if any bros here who has ordered the new face-lifted W204 to enlighten us if this is true when they collect their new rides by checking their VIN.

Even if it is assembled in S Africa, in my opinion, it should not mean anything lesser than its german-asssembled cousins. It's still a merc.

OMV, if I'm right, represents the value of the options of the car has. Interestingly, I would have thought that the new face lifted W204 with the many newer features should command a higher OMV. Then again, the OMV reported in here speaks otherwise.

Any gurus to decipher this phenomenon?

OMV also depends Euro exchange rate. Euro dropped recently?

Not really though. Euro versus S$ has been hovering around 1.75 to 1.80 the last 18 months at least (was only like 2 in the earlier days back in 2009). Thought of this earlier too, but not compelling enough.

So the price is actually more expensive since the omv is lower

I would think so.

"OMV is assessed by the Singapore Customs (Tel: 6355 2000), based on the price actually paid or payable for the goods when sold for export to the country of importation. This price includes purchase price, freight, insurance and all other charges incidental to the sale and delivery of the car to Singapore."

above quote lifted from http://app.lta.gov.sg/motoring_vo_omv.asp

was told becos of euro.

Hmmm. maybe germany also employ FT to assemble their cars so the cost has gone down tremendusly.

not worth the extra 20k for c180 7g when your omv is only 4k more then the kompressor. take the 20k and put in amg package, pana roof and interior styling extras and the omv might be higher then 34k since all from factory.

any bro who indented their rides with extra from factory care to comment? end of the day the car depreciation is calculated based on omv right?

The best way to earn back your merc is to buy c and c shares!

They earn profit from you, u take back via dividends!

All Bros, my se just reconfirmed the omv for c180 7g is 38k. good news.

Not forgetting the $20k diff between the C180k(1.6L) 5 spd & the C180cgi (1.8L) 7g has a difference of $10k diff in COE currently.

Slightly more OMV, slightly more torque & slightly quicker from standstill.

I chose PI mainly bcos of the price . I saved abt $44k compared to AD . Merc is a Merc ! No matter its AD or PI . Pay $44K to have the cnc logo on my ride is really unnecessary .That $ saved can put up for good use when in need . I heard that the resale price difference between AD & PI also not much . Kindly note that above are my Personal opinion only . :hand:

Here i cum....

Buying from PI or CnC depend on each own.

buying from AD say paying $200K for a sport package might be able to get you a FULL HIGH SPEC package from PI's .

Trade in price diff between PI and AD are on your buying price, Usually AD will give you a overtrade of +- 8K , this 8K are from your purchase price.

Getting from PI , problem always lies on the sale person, get a reliable sale person who know in detail what's the spec of those car which the boss had order, and if you can wait, intend it on the next production date and that's you will be safe of what you will get.

PI's OMV went alot higher the last month, most car declared amount were rejected by custom and add on a 3-8K pound to the OMV. Look and check out this month registered car you will be surprise how high are their OMV.

And come to Kopi at alexandra, is open for everyone, my cheese cake were also free even i drive PI's C, My old E previously and my Nissan there last month......

And resale price, if you sell your car with 5 years, you will be surprise PI's car fetch a better export price.....why? There is a simple reason behind it.

Mr Yap, goes with your heart......do your own maths.
