Recommended Engine oil for servicing?

Like to ask if any bros here use other engine oils like Castrol, Elf or Motul during servicing?

I always felt that Castrol Edge is pretty good but not sure if it's really suitable for Merc engines. Would like to get some input from experts here.

I use Mobil 1.... but there are many good oils out there which meet Mercedes Specifications... nowadays there are many engine oils with Esters... that is an additive that makes your engine run much smoother.. so u may consider them .. alternatively, you can use an approved Synthetic oil and add an engine oil additive.. common ones are from STP or OWS

Mobil 1 has 2 product types, at least from what I know in this country: 0W-40 (entire container in gold colour) and 5W-50 (gold cap).

Both are MB229.3 compliant.

The former (single malt whisky!) costs a little more than the latter.

Which is the one that C&C uses when you requested for Mobil 1 at servicing?

Any bro knows if a 4 litre bottle enough for a 1.6L compressor engine ?

Also, for first 15k servicing, is 0-30, 5-30 or 0-40 preferred ?

Thanks for enlightening bros.

Thanks for info bros. Usually I will just change engine oil at 7.5km before going to C&C. But kinda troublesome if I need to buy 2 bottles of 4 litres oil and keep the spare.

Yo bros,

After this topic, I may suddenly withdraw from trying out a local made engine oil 'REV-1'. Fully synthetic SAE 5W40 with API SM/CF. It's label as SAE.

During the preview held by autosavers and wheels magazine, it was says to be v good. How now?? Gonna for engine change in 4k mileage remains. Pls adv shld I not try and stick with MB Approval oil grade?

Any comments, feedback very much appreciated. Thanks all. :music:

Just to check, how much does it cost to do just the oil change and tyre rotation at 7500km ? Any recommeded place to do this ? Star Black ?

Just called up C&C and the lady that answers the phone kept quoting me $500+ for lubricant servicing. Sounds like the 15k servicing she is talking about.

Thanks.
