have a w203 c180 2004, had the same center console issue as yours (i'm just making a guess - paint fading and skin peeling off?)

got it replaced FOC at C&C, as still under 3 years warranty.

PS: mine was the older 2 compartment one, they changed to the newer single big compartment cover, i wasn't happy, so they shipped the older model over from germany for me, FOC too.
