3 Continental and 1 Falken tyre... can meh?

Just realised today that my pre-owned '09 W211 cames with 3 Continental and 1 Falken tyre.... very funny.

Front

18" 245 35(both continental)

Back

18" 265 35 (1 falken and 1 continental)

So how? Should I change the 1 Falken to Continental or just bear with it? All tyres looks relatively new too. My car clocked 35,000km when I took over 3 weeks ago. Previous owner probably changed tyres not so long ago.

Generally, ain't a good idea mixing n matching tires even if they're all the same make but with different tread depth or age. Tire compound, wear rate, tread design etc shd preferably be consistent for optimal grip.

Fully agree although my father in law did run a similar setup sometime ago - 3 michelins and a falken in the front psngr side.

If you're a hard driver, better change

Remember to change per pair for tyres, not one pce of Falken to continental for yr case.

IMHO,

Not only U have to change your rear tyres but also your front tyres too.

The right size front tyres for your car on 18" Front whether 8J x 18 ET30

or 8.5J x 18 ET39 should be wearing 245/40/18 tyres and not 245/35/18 tyres.

If U are not too particular, then dun change it cos the size difference is that your front wheels overall diameter is -3.75% smaller than it actually should but it will not affect your speedometer reading.

Your rear tyre sizes are correct i.e 265/35/18 if you are on staggered rims

i.e Rear Rims should be 9J x 18 ET39.

Thanks guys for the input. Have already ordered 2 x Goodyear Asymmetric tyres for back. Unker, u are correct as usual. After reading your reply, i went and check again. My front tyres are indeed 245/40. My bad. So I will go ahead and change just the rear 2.

Seems only the falken is new though. Rest should be stock. Cost me 350 per tyre. Is the price correct?

Yo blackmerc, thanks for highlighting. The shop owner, Hurry Tyre and Battery, assured me that that was due to bad production in the beginning of the year and it was limited to 18" 225 and 19".

Overall I paid 1300 for 4 tyres including a 50 trade in for the falken.

O
