After the upgrade, can the LCD shows chinese characters ?

kepiting, I thought you already TV, Navigation etc. Why upgrade to command ??

The current Audio 20 has only a 5.8" LCD screen.

Command comes with 7" higher resolution LCD screen.

It has linguatronic voice control.

I want the original DVD.

I might want to intergrate my after mkt with the command too.

The command has 40Gb HDD with PCMCIA for SD Card.

I want more choices......hehehehe!

U should see Cerano retrofit Command!

Hoping the cable for Audio 20 & Command to the screen is the same.

Then I will be able to add the after mkt mmi to the command like at present.

If not, then probably I will add the garmin gps+ dtv to the command (IIRC there are 2 av inputs if not using the reverse cam)

For W211, W203 there is more than one option.

The W203 has 3 options

However, the W203 BOSCH Comand 2.0 from 2000-2004 does not have a Bluetooth option. It is a D2B system and is too slow for the BT processing of audio which gives feedback and echo.

If you want 2005-2010 Navigation you have the choice of NTG2 or NTG2.5 - there is a huge difference in the functions but the design is very similar.

To install NTG2.5 in 2003 W203 it must involve replacing all the wood in the centre console, the buttons panel and the AC panel. The new COMAND frame must be installed after the dash is removed.

The bluetooth will work fine but the BOSE / CD stacker and other D2B appliances no chance to work. Those have to be replaced totally. You will also need a new cluster in some cases. Depends on the exact year model.

The W211 has 2 options possible. One is NTG 1 (original type GPS) and the other is NTG 2.5 (2008+ GPS). To install NTG 2.5 the car MUST NOT HAVE Harmon Kardon. You lose the old CD stacker and you lose the old phone kit.

The ideal car for NTG 2.5 is one with almost no options and just audio 20 radio from late 2003 and later. Early 2002 W211 are difficult to modify. They require many more parts than the later model cars.

We can generally assume that in some cases it will be easier to install the older version GPS and have the compatible functions.

VIM = with NTG 2.5 will remove all GPS functions because it cuts the antenna signal and the CANBUS signal to the COMAND. So if you are navigating then you have no chance for VIM in this COMAND.

Alternately, the NTG 2.5 has excellent support for rear screen. Almost any type of rear screen can be used with the COMAND NTG 2.5.

Or would you prefer to go through a co-ordinator like Cerano aka Zacc?

All of them would want to have at least Bluetooth Telephony, Navigation with the latest 2010 South East Asia Navigation Maps, DVD with VIM.

Need to check with you it is possible to upgrade/change CL55AMG W215(year 2000) existing HU to the latest or can fix the below problem.

Now this car HU GPS (according to my friend its using disc) is not working and built-in car telephone also down.

If require to replace HU can it be converted/upgraded to have bluetooth function and delete the built-in car phone?

I have requested a set of prices for all the cars listed below. All of them except the W203 are going to be easy enough for us to make up a kit.

The VIM you must know it can switch off the GPS function. So when you have VIM there is no GPS.

Arsenal, the W215 only has 3 head unit options.

- 2000-2000 4:3 CD D2B

- 2003 Widscreeen CD D2B

- 2004-2007 Widescreen DVD MOST

To convert W215 2000 to W215 2005 starts at 20K. It requires the whole interior removed and about 3 days work.

The car is just empty inside so the wiring can be done. Then after the wiring you also have new seat modules, new centre wood, new phone kit. New door modules, new fuse boxes, new igntion switch, new cluster.

One customer in Germany is believed to have spent about 35K to install 2010 navigation into 2000 W220 S-Class. This installation is really one-of-kind. It was done in Germany.

It comes down to price. There is absolutely no problem with installing the parts.

Wow $20k as a start for convertion for wide screen DVD!!!

What is the $$ damage if want to make good to original i.e. GPS and built-in car phone in working condition?

Also if want to change to wide screen CD D2B what is the cost?

The installation of the parts is about 20 hours. The cost of the wiring harness is about 1500-3000 depending on options added. The parts themselves depend on the market. Look to spend about 8K to 12K for a full 2003 rewire.

There is no factory solution for W245 B-Class rear camera but one can be designed using Mercedes parts.

Every single car will have a different price depending on Chassis number and options requested. Some of the options listed below are high than 4K.
