Welcome to the bright side lah!

Good buy!

These were the last of the W211 and as usual, they "throw" in lots of things like the BT, Color LCD screen, aux input, 18" rims, etc

Maybe that was the reason I sold my Dec '07 W211 cos dun have those items above.....hahaha!:becky:

Btw I love the handling of the bm.. The look sporty!

But merc.. E klass very song, sit inside u feel very handsome. Lol

Hi, I also recently bought a E280 from Republic. Used to drive E60 525 until I crashed the car - total write off - so bought MB instead. More comfortable but the BM handles corners better. Strange that the car is shod with only 16" wheels. I guess 17" would look better and 18" will cause ride to be slightly hard.

I didn't exactly dump the Bimmer. Had a head-on collision with a Toyota and the insurer recommended total write-off due to extensive repair costs...over $40k. Headlights, radiator, grill, both air bags, axle, drive shaft, entire total front panels, dashboard, etc. The Toyota also kaput and bounced off my car to hit a traffic light.

The compensation was quite fair so I took it. I walked away injury free although my body ached for a couple of days. I had intended to drive the Bimmer to the end as it was already past 5 years. Quite nicely modded too with Hartge kit, strut bar, sports pedals and performance enhanced not too extreme.

Someone offered me a 4-door 335i and I took it for a spin. Good power and smooth but then I realized that now in my 40s, my driving habits & patterns have changed. No longer so dynamic and unwilling to take the shocks to my butt. So the twin turbo is wasted on me. I had the W210 in 2001 and although under-powered, it was very comfortable and was the first car I drove to Ipoh without actually feeling tired. So the comfort was a given. This E280 has a nice balance of both power & comfort so I went for it although my wife thinks that it has an ah pek image. I simply agreed with her that I am now an ah pek.

bros who want to know the diff between Bimmer & MB is common knowledge in this forum. Basically the BM handles better in cornering & MB is more comfortable over long distances. Given that we tend to drive straight for longer distances, it makes sense for me; unless you are on the track then for sure the Bimmer takes the cake. I also tried the new F10 525 and felt the interior was nothing new. The 535 was too expensive. Frankly I think my E280 can thump the current F10 525 in a straight line but will lose out to the 535....but hah....who needs to drive that fast anyway?

I attended the PML ADC at Pasir Gudang and frankly the BM can do some amazing things. Wonder if Daimler has a similar program?
