Hey bro,

Maybe you should re phrase your question as I am not really sure whether you want to change your viscous fan clutch to an electromagnetic one, or you want to change your entire fan to an electric one.

Anyway if you want to just change your fan clutch, i think you just need the electromagnetic clutch plus a couple of relays from a scrap late model merc. It shouldnt be too difficult but rather redundant as the viscous one can last for really long and when it breaks, just change it for a new one.

If its the latter you want, you obviously need the fan plus a shroud of some sort to mount it behind the radiator as the old one wouldnt fit. Im not sure if an old one from a W210 or I6 W124 would work, but you could go propel to find the parts to cut costs. You also have to tie off the clutch and the engine fan. Besides that you would also need to figure out how you want the fan to work (i.e running permanantly or with an electric thermostat connected somewhere on the radiator or plumbed inline). The thing with electric fans is that should the fuse blow and it stops working, your engine is bound to overheat. So keeping a few spare fuses inside the car would be a good idea. Other than that, you would get more power and theoretically get better fuel mileage as well when using the electric fan.

Maybe you want to take a look at this link and ask them, as some guy posted a pict of an electric fan conversion for an M102 engine here:

As for workshop, I would recommend my mechanic which is situated at the Shell station opposite Autobahn motors along Bukit Timah road near newton. Tel: 68360194/68360842
