E350 Coupe DVD player mod

Hi Guys,

I just collected the above from C&C. It comes with Nav Sat and DVD player. The movie will only play when the car is stationary. When it moves off, it will cut off for safety reason.

Anyone knows who in the market can tweak this DVD such that it will still play when the car is moving? I know it will void the warranty, but I don't bother.

yeah... quite common, the device is called "TV free" or "video in motion". 100 odd euros~

I asked few shops, they said if I enable the video, the system will think that I am stationary and the GPS will not work. This is because GPS thinks that I am stationary!

My E350 coupe will come in twin oval-shaped tailpipes. :yuck:

Does anyone know where i can mod them to those cool trapezoidal-shaped ones ? How much? Do i need to cut the panel? Thanks.

bro, that will make your car looks like E500 coupe?

My car spec exactly same as yours, with additional distronic. The command aps play dvd but cut off video when car moves off. Do you know anyone can tweak it?

I plan to get the VIM Interface from midcityengineering.com. It's about USD$400. Read in mbforum that it's easy to self-install. :confused:

Do you have any experience installing these things?

hello, i don't think you need to order from midcityengineering. unless... they are the only one who support the new w212. if not any vim will do fine... i think. google around, many places sell these of vim. in fact, these kind of vim works fine for many conti cars like, audi, bmw, merc, vw etc~ their system is pretty similar in nature.

if you want another quote, you could ask either Steve from nethderland or Miro from Australia, these are the guys I go to get OEM parts.

(btw, any merc-experienced folk should be able to install it in your car. especially so if it comes with some simple wiring guide. try autospritze if you're stuck, they do my ride)
