B-170 6th gear & 7th gear speed problem?

Hi all.

i am a new member in this forum. I'm from Indonesia.

i own a B-170 with CVT gear box (7-speed).

so far the car has been a joy, however, i have a speed problem with it.

i always use "Manual mode" in empty freeways.

above 120 km/h, i found that my b-170 can still accelerate only in 5th gear. whenever i switch to 6th gear and/or 7th gear, the rpm does go down, but the speed also go down. i floor the pedal already.

in 5th gear at around 4500rpm, the car still acccelerate above 160 km/h, but whenever i switch to 6th gear, the car simply decelerate (up to around 120 km/h maximum).

is it normal?

i heard that b-170 can reach a maximum speed of around 180 km/h. is it on 5th gear? because in my b-170, the 6th gear and 7th gear only can go up to around 120 km/h max.

not sure whether the "C" comfort or "S" Sport mode has anything to do with it

"C" mode is for less aggressive driving.

Have u tried doing it in Auto mode instead of Manual mode or tried Manual with "S" mode ?

I will try doing it in auto mode in this weekend.

from what i know, manual mode has not connection with "C" or "S" mode. however, i will try also.

I seldom use manual mode on my B170 just left auto on "S" mode. I suspect 6th & 7th is overdrive gear, B170 is only having 116 bhp 7 speeds mode is over kill maybe is more suited for B200T. My experience with previous car 2l Mazda 6 5 speed auto, I never get past 190 kmh on "M" mode but if I left it in "D" then floored the accelerator it can reach 230kmh.

Hmmm... I thought B classes have Autronic gearboxes? I.e., CVT gearboxes. The 'gears' are just some ratios along the continuously varied ratios.

Yes 7-speed is virtual gear in B170 CVT, I think ratio is rogrammed in ECU.

It will be good it this 7 gear ratios programmed as close ratio but it's not the case.
