Car Navigation DVD drive spoilt haiz...

It was working ok for the dashboard SAT NAV, but the screen says "Insert CD to boot" ... so i thought all along no map. Went back to republic auto, the guy give me CD i try to put in, to my horror, there's already A DVD inside . siao liao cannot eject..

Who got this problem ah???

So they sent me to C&C svc agent check say cannot repair..... replacement $5K .. like WTF!

Tried another workshop, the msian techician managed to unlodge the DVD but still cannot work.. haiz!! I wonder if its worth all the trouble to get the GPS working man.

I checked on Ebay. Got the DVD Navi drive unit at USD 500+ .. should i order n fit myself????

THe mystery is,

why is it that when i press MAP, the screen says insert CD to boot for the Map.

While my dash board can display "SE Telok Blangah Road " intiially.... WIERD!!!!

Then suddenly, my dashboard navi disappeared , no more roadname appearing only the direction. WHy ah???

The DVD drive half working? or is the Dashboard Sat NAv indepedent of the CD..

wah... sorry to hear about that.

i think the navi unit could be damaged. that is why it is not communicating properly with the dash.

so you managed to eject all the discs? then try to reinsert (hoping it doesn't cause more damage) then try to restart the comand aps (there is a key sequence, have to check here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/)

try that forum, anyway, really helpful and knowledgeable ppl there.

Bro Damien ask them pay for the DVD nav unit...after all it is like this when u purchase unless your terms of puchase is "as it is" if not you have every right to make them pay to replace..... BTW is it settle now?

cannot leh, sway la.. it did work for 2-3 days , got GPS road name display on dashboard..but no map on screen cos it says 'pls insert DVD nav CD' .. so all along i tot it was because of no dvd... i checked behind eject also nothing come out. but actually the stupid DVD is jammed inside.. den after that suddenly don have the road name display i begin to suspect spoil....

i gonna screw the stupid GPS already lah... the dvd display dont spoil can already. the stupid DVD cost 2k ,,, i 'll go with garmin.,..

i got see Ebay , got the refurbish nav drive for about SGD 800.. duno worth or not
