Have been using Shell V-Power or 98 all these years but was advised to use Caltex Techron sporadically as it'll really helps with the cleaning of Engine internals. Have tried after 3-4 tank fulls of shell then caltex & glad to report that it does help a little in terms of consumption

Don't think there is an issue with mixing brands, rather the appropriate octane level for the car in question. :)
