Get a 2nd opinion. AD told my Dad in law the same story. A/C needs replacement etc $5k+ job lah etc. Went for 3rd opinion (2 diff AD svc centers + personal mech) and personal mech saved $5k+...

Has any of you ever experienced.Every time my dad contemplates buying a new or 2nd hand car,the car he currently drives will start to give mucho problems.hahaha.happened for the last 2 mercs as well.the red one decided to not be able to turn the ignition key at esso, the orange(silver originally) decided to get kissed by a fool driving out of his carpark slot.

Second that, I went there to change my air con compressor for my W203.

Good job with reasonable charges. :)

Went to moto-aire multiple times for my cars always came away with a good feeling and well working aircon plus some spare change in me pocket heheheh. BMW E46 and E36 very prone to being spoilt within the 1st 4 years of the cars life i've notice. Not too sure abt the E90 tho a couple of bros from the bmw forum are keeping watch. Last time I was there they nice guy told me to keep the temp as low as the system allows to prevent damage. I dont remember exactly the reason why tho.

if i remember correctly, the conti cars (or is it all cars) aircon system is using the heat dissipation ... that is, if u lower the temp, the 'amount' of hot air is blown out is less ... in temperate countries, the car needs to blow warn air during the colder winter season ... but in our climate, this may lead to over-heating ...

anyway .. it is something like that ... I cannot remember too ...

another good aircon shop is the shell station along bt timah road heading towards NIE/Turf City (the one with 2 shell stations facing each other) ...

and of course MarkCool in Woodlands...

in current hot weather ... aircon is a must !!!

The aircon was giving problem in the second year (2008)and C&C replaced the cooling coil and receiver dryer due to system leakage.Car 3 year waranty had lapsed last year august.Checked with C&C n was told theres no more warranty although the repair done on the aircon was just one year plus ago.Very dissapointed with C&C - as though their product and workmanship is not reliable n cannot be trusted. This is my third mercedes Benz I owned and all gave the same problem.Perhaps I should change to a different car brand.Personally I feel its not the whole aircon sytem giving the problem as the left side is giving out cold air.I did change the fan motor resistor block ($200) - of the w202 mdl n it worked fine but cud not get the aircon sytem layout for the w203.Wonder if the electronic controller ($ ?) is giving problem. Its always wise to eliminate the fault sequentially.Does anyone also know whats the compressor rated output ? Thanks all the kind ppl out there and have a Happy And Prosperous New Year.

Tks guys for your wealth of sharing here for now i know that Merc aircon really sucks as attested by your posts which i initially thought that mine was a lemon since i just collected mine recently.

Actually am really let down by Benze airconditioning especially it's getting damn hot when comparing to Beemer, Audi/ VW & even a punny Nissan Sunny

My W204's aircon starting to act up - not cold liao and the car is less than 6 months old!

Better go in for a check soon...sianx2

Bro, look at the bighter side, you've enjoyed at least 6 months, just got mine 3 wks ago & aircon really can't make it. Suzuki SX4 or Nissan Sunny much better :censored:

The Merc W204 aircon reminds me of 80'& 90' Alfa with Asthmatic Aircon which never really can make it if ambient temp hover above 34-35 degs :censored:

my ride is coming to 4 mths, so far so good leh (in term of coolness)...except that there are foul smell every time when you turn on the a/c, especially in the morning or after stopping for some time...goes off after a while but still irritating... any solution to that? :tsk:
