HID Lights illegal??

Bros, saw this thread from VAGSG, that says that if caught with illegal HID lights can be fine and blah...blah blah...... How now? can anyone comment and is our HID light illegal

There is a reason why HID retrofits are deemed illegal by authorities world wide.

There are lots of articles regarding this matter on google, a simple realignment won't be any good, the light is still not being projected to where it should.

Fine if caught is between 1K to 1.5K.

Check out this article, http://app.lta.gov.sg/corp_press_content.asp?start=1888

With effect from 1 January 2010, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will require all newly registered vehicles fitted with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps to be equipped with an auto-levelling feature, which is a mechanism that automatically adjusts the headlamp angle and direction based on road and driving conditions.

The auto-levelling feature helps to reduce glare to drivers of oncoming vehicles without compromising the improved visibility these headlamps offer to drivers. For example, if the vehicle is carrying a heavier load and the rear is lower, the headlights would adjust downwards to reduce glare to on-coming traffic without compromising the improved visibility HID headlamps give to drivers. On the other hand, if the vehicle is carrying a lighter load and the rear is raised, the headlights would adjust upwards to illuminate the road properly.

It is legal if only is factory fitted and have passed the VITAS. All aftermarket HID consider illegal, if your car is halogen housing (not the projector type) will be very easily spotted by TP.

The news you read refer to all newly imported after 1st January 2010.

Zzzzz whilst they are at it might as well go catch all the people with farnie farnie LEDs festooning on their car. Some people think either their car is a christmas tree

Yeah - it seems worse now than when the David Hasselhoff Knightrider series hit the small screen years ago - all the K.I.T.T. wannabes!
