I came across an article that Mercedes has collaborated with Hughes Telematics to produce a iphone software called Mbrace Plus. Amongst its huge barrage of utilities, it allow the phone user to remotely find their car in massive carpark via a compass like software locked to their car's telematics. It also allow users to lock and unlock their car from as near as a few metres to as far as the opposite of the globe with their iphone.

Wonder if it will ever come to Singapore.

If you know about TeleAid (in US) then it may interest you to know mbrace is the replacement for it.

For vehicles installed with TeleAid, there will be two more buttons installed in the overhead console - 1x Emergency Button, 1x Service Assistance. So when you watch those shows (think Die Hard 4) in which the hero tries to call for help in a Mercedes, they are using the system.

mbrace plus currently works for the new E class and the new S class. It works for iphone/BB at the moment. It allows users to remotely lock/unlock, locate the vehicle, concierge and etc.
