I recently watched Top Gear declare the Honda FCX Clarity as THE most important car of the century. Apparently because it's the world's first mass produced hydrogen vehicle (available only in California), and the only sustainable alternative to the current breed of hybrids, electric plug-ins, CNG vehicles, etc.

It's hard to imagine an automotive world without fossil fuels, but even if oil consumption remains constant (unlikely), the world's oil supply is expected to be fully depleted in 43 years. Which really makes you wonder which evolutionary path car manufacturers will take, and more importantly, what kind of car you'll be driving...

Of course, maybe by then we'll be driving the big SLK in the sky (petrol-powered V12 of course, nothing less!).
