C180 1994 - wah!!!! 1994 COE went pass $100K and a W202 cost $200,000+.

With that kind of money nowadays can buy a C350. ;D

Hey guys!

I may be able to join you two as I am considering buying a C180 as a second car in the next few months. However, I was wondering what kind of maintenance issues the car has and whether it is cheap to run long term.

Thanks.

W202.. cheap to maintain lah.. just like the w124.

my w202 is my daily drive (average 100-120km) per day. Nothing too costly to maintain/fix. Just normal stuffs like engine mouting, steering arm bush, brakes etc

Just make sure you choice the righ car and it will serve you well.

Long long ago, far far away...

I once had the W202 for a few months while waiting for the W210 to launch. It replaced the W124 (W123 before that) I had, and felt very much like an updated W124. So, you could imagine how much I anticipated the W210.

Big mistake!!! The W210 was such a let down (quality-wise) compared to the W202 and the W124 - so much so that I completely lost 'faith' in Merc and from the W210 (got rid of it so quickly I even surprised myself!) went to Lexus.

I'm now back to Merc and have seen the 'recovery' in quality of most recent models. I'm a little more than half-convinced.

My point is, in my opinion, the W202/W124 represented the last of Merc's best quality in that era. Of course today, Merc is working very hard to recapture that level/aura of quality and the new W212 is a very good case in point.

So, you really can't go very wrong with the W202. Enjoy!!!

[Kel, this post was meant for you... :3some: hee hee hee]

I actually did point him to a W202, but in the end he went for a W124 - and is giving extra tuition to support the car.
