GLB Abnormal cracking sound

Recommended Posts

Hi all GLB owner,

I would like to know if you have encountered the same issue as I have on my GLB. Every time when I turn or driving up the carpark, I will hear a cracking sound similar to old furniture cracking sound. I went to the service center and they told me I have to grease my door rubber. I am surprised when I was told to do so.

This is my first time I heard that I need to grease my door rubber for a year old car and this is MERC-B. It not Toyota or Proton! Y do I have to grease it every week!!!!

Anyone has any idea how can I feedback to C&C officially?

This is an example of the cracking sound. Tried to record as quiet as possible ☺️

Hey Simon, I have the exact same problem on my GLB35. It came up after I did external and internal ceramic coating, and I figured it's basically the rubbers creaking against the coated surfaces.

What worked for me was buying silicone lubricant and coating the door rubbers, and also applying a thin layer on where the rubbers meet the panels.

Agree it's pretty shty that these new Mercs have this issue but.. Oh well. The door panels aren't even aligned on the GLBs lol. Was expecting better build quality from the AMGs since it's supposed to be made in Germany not Mexico but seems like it's not thar clear either.
