Auto Headlight Setting

Hi SLK buddies, I just had my windscreen replaced. Realised the headlight always stayed ON with knob on "Auto" even when I have reset the setting in "Lighting" to "Manual". If I set it to "Constant", all lights (including headlight) will stay ON even I have turn the knob to "0". Being new to SLK, is it a standard factory setting (aka DRL) or is it an issue because of my windscreen replacement? My model is a 2010 R171 SLK300. Appreciate any advice please.
